Rampage was introduced in the second season of Beast Wars, where he quickly established himself as one of the most dangerous Predacons on the show. His alternate mode was that of a giant lobster, and he was known for his ferocious attacks and near-indestructible armor. Unlike many of his fellow Predacons, Rampage was not interested in following orders or winning battles for the glory of his faction. Instead, he seemed to relish the chaos and destruction that came with warfare, making him a terrifying opponent for both Autobots and Predacons alike.

One of the most interesting aspects of Rampage’s character was his backstory, which was gradually revealed over the course of the series. It was eventually revealed that Rampage was not always a Predacon, but was in fact a Maximal experiment gone wrong. As a result of the experiment, Rampage’s mind was split in two, with one side representing his Maximal programming and the other his Predacon programming. This internal conflict made Rampage a deeply troubled character, prone to violent outbursts and intense bouts of introspection.

Despite his brutal nature, Rampage also had moments of vulnerability and even sympathy. In one memorable episode, he formed an unlikely alliance with the Maximal Silverbolt, who shared Rampage’s love of destruction but also had a sense of honor and loyalty that Rampage lacked. The two characters clashed repeatedly throughout the series, but there was also a sense of mutual respect between them, born out of their shared love of combat and their sense of being outsiders in a world that didn’t fully understand them.

Ultimately, Rampage proved to be one of the most enduring characters from the Beast Wars series, and has remained a fan favorite for over two decades. His combination of raw power, tragic backstory, and complex personality made him a standout character in a series that was already filled with memorable characters.
